“When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break” Luke 5:6
You are most likely familiar with the miraculous fishing or it probably sounds curious to you because it is the first time for you to hear about it. This is not only a true story, a story as old as over two millennium but still very up-to-date.
These fishermen stayed awake all night, the best moment to cast one’s net far and wide, and they caught no fish. Jesus took advantage of their boat to stay far on water and speak to the crowd.
“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch. Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
That small discussion took place between a professional of fishery and someone we could a priori qualify as lay person given that no one ever saw him with nets in hands, and yet, he is at the heart of the job. His name is Jesus.
Where is Jesus for you? Is he in the heart of your job or outside? Please note here that the fishermen allowed Jesus to enter into their boat, despite their failure, the anxiety of having fished nothing, the uncertainties showing up on the horizon. Where have you put Jesus?
Jesus entered these fishermen’s boat without obviously caring for their problems since he took all his time to first speak to the crowd who was listening to him. Maybe you’re telling yourself that you have let Jesus into your heart but he is not managing to take you out of issues you are going through and you feel disheartened. Maybe he is still speaking to the crowd before speaking to you as he did for Simon Peter “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch”
Would you willingly agree to go back on the steps that led to your past failure upon invitation from the Master? Simon did believe and the Bible says: “When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break” Luke 5:6
Today is probably your miraculous fishing day! Let Jesus enter and do listen to him! The Bible declares: “today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts” Hebrews 3:15.
Today is the day of your miracle, thus, resist him not!
